Listen, if you decided to read this with the wonky title, you are my kind of people. But hang in there I think it will all make sense soon.
I have a daughter getting married and it is a lot like sending kids off to college. You start wondering if you’ve told them everything. You know how the summer before they start college, you start thinking do they know how to sew on a button, sort their laundry, keep the car maintained. Well marriage is similar – do they know when to change the a/c filters, how to make buttermilk when they need it and how to treat each other. You start thinking about the things you have modeled. What will they take with them in this new phase of life? And that is how we get to Squash and Santa

What we hope they have seen is that we have ups and downs. What we hope we have modeled is there will be squash days and Santa days. Some days where you look at the love of your life and wonder …..what was I thinking and other days when you know you made the best decision marrying them. Allow me to explain. I am allergic to zucchini. I have been allergic to it since I was a kid. Two Mother’s Days in a row my husband declared he would cook dinner. Two years in a row he made me zucchini. Those, my friends, are squash days. Literally I have one food allergy. Is it really that hard to remember? Now, here’s how we get to Santa days – We were out of town and I spotted a HomeGoods. We all know these stores are very different depending on location. I asked him to turn around and let me pop in and look for a rug we’d been looking for. He stayed in the car. I went in. I did look at the rugs, but on my way out there was this Santa…..I couldn’t resist. So I bought this 5ft Santa and headed to the car. I opened the back door, put him in and this squash cooking man looked at me and said……did they have anymore? Why yes, there are three more. He says just go ahead and get them, you know you want to. At that moment, I am reminded of just how much I love this man.
So in marriage there will be squash days and there will be Santa days…..in the end they all make for good memories. Here’s hoping our daughters have seen us love each other through both and will tuck squash days away knowing Santa days are ahead.
Here’s to many Santa days ahead!
Have a great weekend!

OMG!🥹 This is so cute and you are a wonderful mother. Both your girls will be phenomenal wives and mothers as you’ve been a marvelous example. Just your heart alone to care as deeply as you do speaks volumes of what’s to come for you and for them. Bless you as you embrace all of the feels and gain new family.🙏🏿
