I am beyond blessed with some really good friends. I literally look around every day and think about just how blessed I am. We send each other funny things, encouraging things, prayer requests, sales we find…..you know all the regular stuff.
We keep up with what’s going on in life by email, social media and texts, I mean we are all busy, right? All of us are taking care of other people, planning parties, attending parties, working, volunteering, mothering, serving on committees, helping in our communities, managing households, etc. And so we watch each other’s lives on our phones, comment on each other’s posts and give a thumbs up to a text to show we care.
All of that is good. I mean we are staying connected. But this weekend one of my friends sent a text and said let’s catch up. I immediately agreed…..yes, let’s do. So we planned a time to ACTUALLY TALK to each other. She’s not local or we would have gotten together. Instead, we planned a time to talk on the phone. We talked for a little over an hour. I didn’t multi-task. I didn’t cook dinner or fold laundry or dust furniture while we talked. I literally sat down and talked to my friend. Reconnected.
It did me so much good that I wanted to encourage you today to carve out some time to reconnect with someone. They need it. You need it. Sometimes we don’t realize how much we miss something or need something until we remind ourselves by doing it.
Keep texting and commenting, but never underestimate the power of talking and listening to your friends.
Go ahead and make some time to reconnect with someone. Hey, forward them this post and set up a time. You both deserve it!
Thanks for connecting with me here…….I never take it for granted and always appreciate it.
