Hope everyone had a great weekend. We had an out of town wedding so I am finding the fact that it is Monday actually quite shocking to my system. But here we are and here we go.
Curious if anyone else has a really FULL empty nest. Like the little birdies have found new homes but they left all their stuff behind. You know clothes, trophies, high school memorabilia…..and who knows what else.
We got a census in the mail which of course we filled out. By the way, some very odd questions on that census, but we did it. And I thought as I was filling it out that if the Census people do a home visit they are going to question the validity of my answers. They are going to be like ma’am it looks like more people live here than what was on your list…..at least the closets and drawers look like there are more people who live here.
I mean granted these kids have a lot of stuff, but my goodness it cannot stay here. So we are slowly making piles for them and putting things in their car trunks when they come by.
If you haven’t watched Swedish Death Cleaning

it is quite interesting. The premise is cleaning out and taking care of your stuff way ahead of your departure so you don’t leave a bunch of stuff for someone else to have to figure out. It really is a great concept. I will say there are about eight episodes and they did try to find the most entertaining Americans for this Swedish show to clean up. Be prepared that some of the shows are people who are very flamboyant and out there. But there are some practical episodes…..like a lady with a terminal diagnosis, a man whose fiancé won’t marry him until he cleans out his house, a family with 5 kids who have all left home and taken none of their belongings. Just read the episode descriptions and select the ones you want to watch.
Anyway, I am working on these rooms and closets over here…..if you have been successful decluttering the nest, tell us all your secrets!
Have the best week!
