Here’s a few things I have watched lately and what I thought about them
Blue Miracle is a great story based on real events about a boy’s home in Mexico. The home is strapped for funding and takes a chance in a fishing tournament to turn things around. They have to decide if their integrity or the dollars will take first priority. Great, feel good film.
Ted Lasso is seriously one of the best shows I have watched in a long time. It is on Apple TV. It has a few….very few scenes hinting at you know. But for the most part it is just an entertaining, heart warming show. I hear there is another season coming and I couldn’t be happier.
The second season of Dirty John is the Betty Broderick story. Of course, these are based on real life events too. It is mesmerizing to watch. Honestly, the things some people do and what they think they can get away with…..real life is always stranger than fiction. Some violence in this one.
Wanted is an Australian series and very good. Two strangers get caught up in some crazy crimes and only have each other as they try to prove their innocence. It is a bit unrealistic, but very entertaining.
The Meddler lives up to its name. I am a Susan Sarandon fan. So that is what got me to click on this. It did not disappoint. She plays a mom that is VERY involved in her adult daughter’s life and when her daughter is not available she takes up with the daughter’s friends. It is very funny and quite entertaining.
Away is all about an international crew going to Mars. It is tense. It is inspiring. It is good! It’s a series and that is good because you might need to take it in increments. I totally enjoyed this one.
Stateless is also Australian based. It is based on events that took place in an immigration facility in Australia. I found it interesting and stuck with it because I needed to see what in the world happened to these people in the end.
Lastly, Little Fires Everywhere on Hulu. I have mixed emotions about this one. While it is a very interesting depiction of some real stuff going on in the world, it also just weird at some points. There are a handful of pretty graphic scenes that I totally didn’t see the point in, but the story line was good. I never read the book, but if you haven’t seen the show or read the book, I might start with the book.
I started another half dozen shows that I had to quit on in the first 15 minutes……I say it all the time, I just don’t get some of the scenes people feel the need to film.
So if you watch something good, that I can actually keep watching all the way through, please let me know.
