Happy Monday, everyone! What a beautiful weekend we had. The weather could not have been more perfect. But a week of hustling about finally got me. By 10:00 Saturday night I felt awful, took some medicine and prayed for morning. Why is it you feel so bad in the middle of the night. When morning finally came, I got up fixed myself some hot lemon water and dozed the morning away. I never got dressed. Never left the house. It was a pajama to loungewear to pajama kind of day. By Sunday evening I felt like I was going to make it. Which is good because I have a busy week. Every now and then the body is like okie dokie that’s enough…..and we just have to listen. I think she is ready for the week now.
One of the things I did last week was attend an author event

Do you all recognize the person in the first chair?
That is Virginia Evans the author of The Correspondent —-my 2025 Book of the year—–the inspiration for this year’s word of the year here on the blog!
She was at Parnassus Books in conversation with Ann Pathchett (another fave author of mine) and it was an awesome evening. The ticket price also included a signed copy of her deluxe edition of the book which is beauitfully done.
Listen, go to some author events. It is like another layer to reading. Even if you are not a big reader there is something about hearing the backstory to how these stories come to be. I will forever be a fan of these author events. I am also a huge fan of the author notes at the end of books. If you have been skipping those ….don’t ! They too add to the whole reading experience.
My favorite local bookstore Snail on the Wall’s upcoming events can be found here.
Check your local bookstores and also your local libraries for authors coming near you. And if you hear of someone good, let me know. I am always up for a book related road trip.
Wishing you a great week ahead.
