We tried out a new local spot this weekend.

They just opened a couple of weeks ago. The Hickory Store is located on Blake Bottom Rd. just east of Jeff Road. My husband went in and got the scoop. He reports the owner is a local guy who often smoked meats and made BBQ for his neighbors and friends. After years of being encouraged to open a business he finally did. They do two cooks a day. So they open 11-2 or until they sell out then close from 2-4 for the second cook. They reopen at 4:00 for the dinner shift.
I ordered a pound of the wings and a Family Pack. The Family Pack was a choice of a pound of pork or chicken, two sides, 1/2 pint of slaw and 8 buns. I got the pork with Baked Beans and Fried Okra.

It was all good. I don’t eat wings or fried okra, but everyone else in the house gave two thumbs up.
They have other things on the menu that I am anxious to try like brisket, smoked chicken salad, hush puppies and peach cobbler. They also have Boudin Balls which I had to google…..they are a fried ball of sausage, rice and seasonings. Who knows maybe we will try them as well.
It is always nice to see a local family living out their dream. We are happy to get to support them. The restaurant is a new building and very nice, the service was fast and courteous and the food was good. We can’t ask for any more than that.
They have a nice patio area, large televisions and an eat in area.
If you are local definitely give them a try.
Wishing you a great week and perhaps one evening out at the new Hickory Store Craft Barbeque.

We will have to try this place. I will share this with my husband. Sounds so good! We enjoy some good brisket. Thanks for sharing! Hope you enjoy the rest of your week.ππΏπ©·
We have now been twice. Both times a delicious experience.
