Well the first day of spring was the coldest I have been in a long time. I think Spring is just being a little shy. Hopefully it is building up confidence to come and stay awhile. I am ready! I have rearranged my closet, put all of my boots on the top shelves, I have the spring tablecloths out, the flower vases…..I am 100% in on Spring. Now I just need Spring to actually show up.
My friend Donna gave me a new cookbook. I love it. I read cookbooks just like I read any other book……cover to cover. I especially love when they have little extra stories and tidbits in with the recipes. This book is so well done and I was mentally making a list of all the things I want to make first.
Since I was in the Spring mood, I started with this

Olive Oil Lemon cake – Delicious!
It was super quick and easy to whip up and is the perfect zesty/sweet dessert.

It is one of those things you probably already have the ingredients so you can just go for it. We all loved it and I think it is the perfect Spring kickoff dessert.
Our resident sour dough baker had some dough and I suggested she try the cinnamon roll loaf that was in the book. I mean how could piling some cinnamon rolls in a loaf pan go wrong…..

It can’t

She iced ours with her normal cream cheese icing

But can you imagine slicing this and making French Toast?????
This cookbook is great. It has one section of small desserts that you can make if you just want something sweet that day and don’t want a whole big batch of something. I have a feeling that will be one of my favorite sections of this book. All the recipes seem simple. The book is really well done. I am trying another one this weekend.
The author is Sarah Fennel of Broma Bakery and you can grab the book here.
Thanks again, Donna! I love this book.
Wishing you all a great weekend and a sweet dessert or two.
