I need my house to smell delicious. One of the reasons I have always enjoyed a slow cooker is the house filling up with great scents throughout the day. And sometimes I am just in the mood for some very specific scents. This time of year, especially, I want cloves, cinnamon and citrus. While I am enjoying diffusing oils most days, this weekend I decided to go a little more organic.

I sliced up an orange, grabbed some rosemary from outside, added some cloves and a few cinnamon sticks. All of this with a couple of cups of water made the house smell great. I brought it to a gentle boil and then allowed it to simmer for a few minutes. Of course, the key is to make sure you always have enough water in the pot. Once it simmered for a few minutes I turned it off and then every few hours I would just turn the pot on again to renew the scent. You could of course do this in a slow cooker, particularly if you are afraid you will forget to watch the water levels. I just set a reminder on the kitchen Alexa……and periodically she says “reminder check your water levels”. Thanks, Alexa, you are such a good kitchen companion.
Enjoy some great seasonal scents and have a wonderful week.
