Sometimes we can make simple things hard. I think we all think about the BIG over all problem that feels hard to solve instead of focusing on small changes that could add up to make a big difference.

I mean like super duper simple things. Here are a few recent small changes I have made that might spark a thought for you to do something similar
- Hang a hook – I would always hang my little dressing robe on a hanger in the dress section of my closet. I don’t use it every day so it gradually gets tucked between other clothing and then I have to hunt for it when I need it which for whatever reason is usually in a rush…..like when I am in the middle of getting ready and someone needs me to find their keys or turn off the house alarm or something like that. Do you know how much room you need to hold a robe hook????? only about 5 inches. I had 5 inches in my closet so I hung a hook. Not even a fancy hook. I had a command hook and hung that. And just like that problem solved.
- Use a label maker – now no one loves a good label as much as I do. I had ordered fancy script labels from Amazon and labeled all of my clear pantry canisters. But then I wanted to change the use of those canisters. I may eventually order more fancy ones, but for now I just got out my old standard label maker, made some quick labels and called it a day.
- Replenish my scissors – Listen, I have no idea what we are cutting around here. But for some reason we always need scissors. And we always need them in the room where the scissors are not located at the time. I just ordered myself some more scissors and put them in all the rooms. Now is there a distinct possibility that all the scissors will still migrate to one room eventually? Yep, but for a little while they will be where they are supposed to be.
- Bought another comb – I have this one comb that I like to do my hair with. I have used the same one for years. Anytime I go on a trip, I would have to pack it last minute because I, of course, had to comb my hair before leaving. Now I own two of my favorite combs. One stays in my vanity drawer for every day use and one lives in my toiletry bag so it is always ready to go. In full disclosure, I went ahead and also bought a second deodorant too. Seriously, I spent $10 and simplified my life.
- Vitamin placement – here’s what I know about me, I am a creature of habit. So now I take my vitamin at the same time every day. Why was I trying to remember to take the vitamin, did I take the vitamin, did I remember to bring the vitamin, etc. Now I know when I eat breakfast, I take the stupid vitamin. Duh! And yes, sometimes I eat at home (on work from home days) and sometimes in the car (on going to the office days) so I have one set at home and one set in my work bag. Seriously, why have I made this so hard for so long?
Pay attention to your day. If you are facing the same frustrations over and over again, think about a simple change you could implement to resolve it……and then do it!
Let’s baby step our way to a more organized, streamlined, easy day.
What simple change have you made or will you make – share so we can all benefit!
