Hello, hope all is sunny in your world. This weather lately – beautiful! You all know I am not an outdoor person but even I have raised the shades the last few days to at least enjoy the sunny view. I am hoping for good weather this weekend because we are having a yard sale.
I have mentioned before I keep a bin/box all year long that I deposit things we no longer can use into. So there’s always some items ready. But when it is the month of the sale, I am touching every closet, shelf, cabinet making sure a good purge is underway. As I was going through my closet I realized I had a very large section of “Just in Case” clothing. You know the stuff that you don’t wear, you never wear, you forget you own it, but there is nothing really wrong with it so you hang on to it just in case you might need to wear it one day. Please tell me I am not the only one.
But really?????

I washed and got all these ready for the yard sale. These are my extra, just in case leggings. And I ask myself, just in case of what? What could possibly happen that I would need all of these? Mind you, I have another whole section of leggings that I wear on a regular basis. These were what – my emergency leggings??? In case they pass a law that only people in leggings can enter TJMaxx? Or I actually become athletic and go to the gym every day? Or I move to Alaska and need them as an extra layer of warmth? I feel like I am going to be okay without them. I am going to live on the edge and let these go. There’s now a whole empty shelf to put things I actually wear.
Here’s your nudge to see if your just in case clothing section is outgrowing your actually wearing section.
I know so many people hate yard sales. I love them. The rule around here is once it crosses the threshold it can’t come back into the house. So anything that doesn’t sell is off to be donated. And the closets, cabinets and shelves have some breathing room. I do love a good purge!
See you back on Friday!
