It’s a Wrap

Thank you all for the sweet birthday wishes, nice notes and all the special attention for my birthday. It really was a super nice one!

Here’s a little collage of the festivities

I have loved Lionel Richie since I was a teenager. For those of you who remember record stores, I used to frequent our local store in the 80’s. When Lionel released his Can’t Slow Down Album the store got a life size cardboard cut out of Lionel. I asked the guy what they would do with it when they no longer displayed it. He said nothing. I asked if I could have it and he said sure if you are around when we decide to take it down. I went to the store every day to check on Lionel……and that is how I ended up with Lionel in the corner of my bedroom for the next several years. I even moved him to college with me.

My family surprised me with tickets to see him. I could not believe it. We had the best time. But both me and Lionel are too old for concerts. I thought gosh this is loud…..first sign I haven’t been to a concert in a long time and I had to go the bathroom twice…..second sign I am too old for concerts. Lionel fared a bit better although by the end I think we were both ready for a nap. It was great though and I sported my Hello t-shirt for good measure.

I was showered with gifts that were all wonderful – rechargeable lamps, some fun candles, a diet coke cap, books, oil diffuser, generous gift cards for shopping and ice cream, a beautiful new recipe box and a cute etched glass with my birth year, lovely flowers, cakes, cookies and more. I was totally overwhelmed. I am always pleasantly surprised who I hear from on my birthday. I guess when Facebook announces to the world that it is your birthday, folks reach out.

On my actual birthday we went to store after store browsing about. Oh and all the cake talk last week – well add a new favorite to the list. Our sour dough baker extraordonaire made sour dough vanilla cupcakes and they were delicious!

Seriously, I could not have asked for more.
