I haven’t talked much about this here because you all know me to be the long reigning Governor of the State of Denial. For some reason not saying some things out loud fools me into feeling better.
But my younger daughter has always wanted to study abroad. Always. Me, I have always been against it. What can I say, I like all my chickens in the nest or at least on a tree branch I can see from the nest. I make no apologies. It is who I am. However, she’s always wanted this and despite my true feelings, I really do try to be open.
So she got herself a trip to Spain arranged…….well God provided this trip
- She couldn’t go with the her regular college program because of a conflict with her internship so her instructor worked with her to set up this 30 day trip.
- The friend she had always planned to go with changed her trip to still go at the same time with her.
- They were assigned the sweetest host family that have been doing this for over 30 years. When I say sweet, I mean cook for them, doing their laundry, helping them with everything sweet.
- Two weeks prior to her departure a co-worker randomly posted some pictures from the exact place she would be going. I emailed her and she sent so much helpful and reassuring advice.
- Despite her vaccination card not being properly updated and a couple other COVID glitches all her paperwork was completed in perfect timing.
- All flights were on time with no issues.
- All other modes of travel…local buses, trains, taxis were handled with no issues.
- She took three excursions to three other cities in Spain with zero issues.
- No one got sick.
- No one lost anything.
- Not one instance of feeling unsafe or uneasy.
In case you haven’t figured it out yet, this is a Praise Post. Nothing has taken me this far out of my comfort zone, ever. For weeks leading up to her departure I was not sleeping. I was waking up thinking how I am going to survive this.
I asked many faithful prayer warriors, faithful friends and family to pray. They did. God answered.
I am a person of faith, but I am also a person. And things to do with my kids are my achilles heel. This may seem like nothing to you or a small thing. But to me this was huge. And seeing God’s hand in it, every aspect of it deserved my mentioning here. I mean really, I tell you all about what I watch on TV and what restaurants I like so I had to share this.
She’s home now

She finished her Spanish minor. My faith grew by leaps and bounds.
Thankful to God for His faithfulness and His provision.
Thankful to have a group who will pray with me! A blessing I hope never to take for granted.
Have a great weekend!

Such a wonderful experience! So glad everything went well and now you can exhale. God is good.
Thanks, Ann. He is awesome!
