Everyone I talk to lately is growing weary. I mean it is no wonder, right? We’ve been isolated from our people and our churches, there has been so much division and discord, watching the news has just become exhausting and then you throw in the regular winter blues and this onslaught of wild snowy weather…….and it is just no wonder. We all live these cumulative lives where everything builds on top of everything else. So it is often not one thing, it is just soooo many things added together.
So if you are hitting the wall I have a few suggestions to possibly energize yourself and be able to push forward.
They all have one central theme: DO SOMETHING FOR SOMEONE ELSE
I have put together a few care packages and happy mails to some folks since we have been going through all of this. And I just finished another round. I went by Staples and stocked up on boxes and then went to filling them. These particular boxes are going to some people I work with who have been putting in a great deal of leadership keeping all of out teams running.

You can fill them with all kinds of things: fun snacks, hand sanitizer, hand lotion, fun colored pens, notepads, candy, chocolates……the options are endless. The thing is, the energy it takes to order all the supplies and then put the boxes together provides a little connection to others that you might be missing plus it takes your mind off of current circumstances and gives you another focus for a bit.
If that feels like too much work or to daunting, grab a bunch of note cards or greeting cards and just send out some nice, ‘hey, I was thinking about you kind of notes’.
You could also grab yourself some padded mailers and send someone a Snickers or Twix. Wouldn’t it brighten your day to get something so ridiculous out of your mailbox from someone who was just thinking of you? Yes, it will probably cost you $4 to mail a $1 candy bar……but sometimes you have to throw caution and practicality to the wind.
That’s what makes this fun.
And never discount the good old porch drop off. If you have been missing your girl pals that normally you would be hanging out with…..put together a little something and drop it on the porch.
These ideas are helping me when I feel like I am hitting the wall and hopefully these small gestures help the recipient push through too.
Wishing you a wonderful week, ladies……..one day a a time…….we are going to make it!
