I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Fall is practically banging the door down now and I am swinging it wide open. We had an absolutely beautiful Sunday. The temps were perfect and I am inching closer and closer to the sweatshirt section in my closet. But Saturday was rainy, rainy, rainy. I had an appointment at 10:00. I went to that and came straight back home and didn’t leave the house again ALL day. It was fantabulous.
I occupied myself with one of my favorite obsessions……Fabric! I have always loved fabric and fabric stores. I can never resist a sale and just love all the options. I recently organized my stash
I mean I have 20 yards of some things and 4 inches of others. I can’t just throw it out no matter how small the piece. I am pretty good at purging. I mean I can clean out a cabinet, a drawer, a closet like nobody’s business. But fabric is always whispering to me….”I could be this” or “I could be that”. And I am like, yes, little fabric you could be so you may stay.
I share fabric DNA with my Aunt Ela. She may or may not love fabric more than I. Recently she shared part of her stash with me. Big thanks to her for being so generous! I went through every piece, organized it by color and oohed and aahed over every single piece
So now these little lovelies have been added to the sewing room
Every piece I pulled out I thought oh what a pretty pillow you’d be, or table runner, or tote bag, or book cover, or I’m sure we’ll think of something.
Sometimes I just spend time putting different pieces together, finding colors that coordinate or patterns that complement each other.
This was my rainy Saturday afternoon activity. I needed it and enjoyed it so much.

What is your favorite thing to sew?
I am pretty much up for whatever….but I like sewing house things like pillows, curtains, table linens. Fabric is just an easy way to change the look of something without buying new furniture or expensive items like that.
