Over the long weekend we got the front porch dressed for fall.
I always love having the decor, but I don’t love the annual dollars spent nor the refusal of the live mums to actually live. I really think they are just defiant. They have sun and water and love, but they are not cooperative. Also, one year some critter kept eating my pumpkins. I wanted it to be a cute bunny or at worst a squirrel, but all the Google research indicated that might be optimistic on my part…..probably an opossum 🙁
So now I mix a little faux with natural and save myself a little money and trouble. Of course, faux pumpkins are everywhere. Michaels or Hobby Lobby can fix you up there. This year I added some faux mums.

I mean look at Mr. Faux Mum looking so pretty and little Mr. Real Mum looking like he needs some urgent care. Next year may be all about the Faux. I will see how these do through the season and make my decision. If they don’t fade too much, I will be all in.

Right now I am pleased. I just bought a round disc of foam at Michaels the size of my planter and stuck the stems in. This is a very large planter and I used one set of the mum stems. I think you could get two medium planters from one set. Everything else I have had forever

I will link as much as I can below, but just check your local craft stores and you can find most of it. I did order the planters and the mum stems, but the rest was all local
My exact mum stems click here. I got the orange/yellow ones.
My barrel planters click here. I have had these for a little over 5 years and they have held up well.

Similar fall welcome mat click here.
I also pulled out all the indoor pumpkins so we are all in over here. But the good news is I haven’t purchased any new ones……that, my friends, is an accomplishment and I think shows real growth on my part. Now if I can just resist buying another Christmas tree this year!
See you back on Friday!

Looks wonderful!🍃❤️
