Welcome to Friday! Anyone else think holiday weeks are hard to get through? We get a day off, but I am pretty sure we cram 5 days of work into the four….so I am still tired. And extremely glad to see Friday!
Are the writers still on strike? I feel like they are because TV in general seems to be lacking. I never realized that all this reality TV we watch now was born out of the last writers strike. Apparently, when there are no writers they just put real people on and they become our entertainment. Goodness we got a lot of reality tv from that strike. I am afraid of what we are going to get from this one.
Regardless, here is what I have been watching lately

Longest Third Date is just bizarre. And it is about real people…..go figure. A couple meets on line. They have two dates and then randomly decide to go out of the country together. Bizarre. As luck would have it, COVID hits the next day and they can’t get back home. So they film everything, get to know each other, lie to their families and jobs, etc., etc. It is weirdly interesting and I would literally pummel my child if she did this.
The Five-Year Engagement is an older movie. A couple is madly in love. They decide to get married. Then one of them gets a job and they postpone it, then one moves away and they postpone it and one thing after another happens until 5 years have passed. It was low key realistic. It was cute and I enjoyed it.
Take Care of Maya is quite frankly the saddest movie I have ever watched. It is real life. It is horribly sad. A family takes their daughter to the hospital and the hospital thinks she is being abused. They are separated, depressed and it just gets worse from there. I can’t recommend this one. Seriously, this is so sad.
Now I loved Muscles and Mayhem. I grew up on the American Gladiators, but I certainly didn’t know all of this backstory. A whole LOT was going on behind the scenes. A whole, whole lot. But I found it very interesting. It may have been the most entertaining thing I watched this month. If you remember the Gladiators, you too will enjoy this.
Hope you are watching some good stuff! Enjoy your weekend.
