When we went into the office every day, it was my practice to pray for all the work stuff on my drive home. I would pray for anything that I was aware of specifically for my co-workers as well as some general prayers over everyone in our organization. When we started doing virtual work, I just moved that prayer list to my evening prayers and covered them at night.
A couple of weeks ago, I was quickly reminded and pulled back into praying on the drive home.

There’s typically a lot of traffic on the drive home and I am often stopped and inching along at a snail’s pace. But when the traffic came to a stop on this particular day there was something different. The wind wasn’t one directional. I could feel the circulation. Trees were going down. Limbs and large branches were flying about. I saw fences ripped apart. I could literally feel my car raising and lowering. I thought – this is a tornado.
I started praying. I sat in that car and prayed and prayed. And then in a just a few minutes everything quieted. The wind calmed down and traffic started moving again. There were lots of trees down so we were alternating around them making our way home. As I drove I saw trampolines that had been accordion folded and thrown into fences, more fences down, traffic lights were out, stuff was everywhere. I called home and asked my daughter if there were any tornado watches or warnings. She said no.
The next day, the weather service reported there was an EF0 Tornado right in the exact spot I was sitting in. Thankfully, that’s a small tornado. But it was a bit scary. I am thankful that it only lasted a few minutes and that we all drove away from it in tact.
Thankful that God was with me in that storm and that He brought me through it.
Reminding you today, that if you are facing a storm in life, He is with you too.
