It has been a little while since we have done a brunch report. Not because we haven’t been trying new places. But more because I gobble all in my food down and realize I forgot to take a photo. But not this week……this week I remembered.
We tried the new Big Bad Breakfast in Madison. If you ever ate at Smokey’s BBQ, this is now in that location. We had tried this before in Birmingham so thought we’d give it a go when it opened here.
We had the dish called Yardwork which was eggs and vegetables and avocado cooked in a casserole type dish. We also had one pancake….just so we could give a full report. And we had the ham and cheese omelette with a green salad.
It was all delicious. Remarkably, the little salad with the omelette was surprisingly one of my favorite things. The portions are a nice size. The staff was super friendly and attentive. The actual sitting area is not very large, you might remember that from when it was the BBQ place. They don’t take reservations or seem to have an app to get on a list. The Bar is first come and first serve and we were able to snag a couple of seats there.
If you are going with a larger group and actually need or prefer a table, someone needs to go by and get you on the list. We got there around 11 on a Sunday and the wait was about 45 minutes. So you definitely have to plan ahead.
Lots of people were coming in and picking up carryout orders…..very smart. They also have a sign up that they will offer drive thru service soon.
We really liked it and definitely plan to return. If you are looking for a brunch spot, I highly recommend.
