It’s our last book review of the year. All in all it was a great year…..just a few duds here and there but that’s to be expected I guess. Here’s what I read this month
If I Run by Terri Blackstock. This one is okay. I’ve read a lot of her books over the years and this one is par for the course. Basically a young girl discovers her friend killed and decides to run because she thinks she will be blamed. It had some super predictable parts and some very improbable parts. It is part of a series and I doubt I will continue. I didn’t regret reading it but I think I am good not continuing.
The Bodyguard by Katherine Center. This is my favorite book of the month. A trained female bodyguard is assigned to a Hollywood star. Around the same time she discovers her boyfriend breaks up with her. A whole lot goes on but it is sweet and cute and generally clean.
The Frederick Sisters are Living the Dream by Jeannie Zusy. This was a fine story but just hard to enjoy. There are three sisters one of whom is developmentally challenged. One of the other sisters is trying to care for her. It is very descriptive. It is probably realistic but again just not really enjoyable.
Lastly, The One Hundred Years of Lenni and Margot by Marriane Cronin. Ummm…. I did not like this one. The premise is good. Lenni is 17 and Margot is 83. Together they have lived 100 years. They decide to paint pictures representing this 100 years. Sounds good right. No. They are both terminally ill and in the hospital. This was just too heavy for me. I just couldn’t enjoy it.
