Our favorite local bookstore Snail on the Wall hosted an outstanding event this week.

There was a panel of three superstars

First. (on the far left) there was the author of

Ariel Lawhon. I LOVED this book! She primarily does historical fiction, but my she does it well. I like the book even more now that I have had the chance to hear her speak in person

On the far right was the author of

Marybeth Mayhew Whalen- This was the first novel of hers that I read and I thought it was so creative and engaging and entertaining. Oh and it was CLEAN! I really enjoyed it and look forward to looking up some of her other works to read.

And then the lady in the middle is Jane Oppenheimer who is not an author…she is an actor. She narrated both of the audio versions of these books. She was also one of narrators of The Correspondent which of course was my book of the year last year. I think she does a great job.

It is always so interesting to hear authors speak and give us some of the whys and hows of the novels coming together. It was an extra treat to hear from Jane about the audio production of books.

There are going to be all kinds of events going on including workshops and panels and vendors….which are going to be no cost things. But there is one ticketed component and that is hearing Ariel Lawhon as the keynote speaker. She has a new book – The Pirate Queen that she will be discussing.

Listen, try one of these book events. They are so interesting and so inspiring. I was sitting next to a lady at this event about audio books who had never listened to an audio book. I sent her home with a whole list of ones that are well done to get started with. Even if you are not a huge reader, just try it. And if you need someone to sit next to, call me 🙂
