Hello Monday! Hope you had a wonderful weekend and got enough rain to rinse a little pollen away. I really enjoyed the Independent bookstore day and picked up a couple of new reads to add to my pile.
But today I am sharing what I read in April…..

My favorite this month was We Begin at the End by Chris Whitaker. A spitfire of a young thirteen year old girl does all she can to care for her five year old little brother. Their mom is not the best decision maker and so much happens in these two kids’ lives. This is almost a story of how much can happen to one family. A whole lot happens to this one. There’s tons of family and community drama but this one kept me interested until the end.
Happy Wife by Meredith Lavender and Kendall Shores is also a good read. There’s a 26 year old barely making it in life young lady who marries a 48 year old man she meets at a country club. Her life takes a dramatic turn. She is living in luxury and style until tragedy strikes. Now what will she do and who can she trust?
Between the Devil and Deep Blue Sea by Jessica Guerrieri. Okay this one has a ton of family drama. There’s an overbearing mother, her sons, their wives and impending grandkids. There’s also addiction….pretty heavy on this topic which I didn’t initially see coming. This was a good book but the characters had me so stressed out it was challenging to enjoy the read.
The Odds of You by Kate Dramis. There’s an up and coming author who meets a famous heart throb. She doesn’t know who he is until she starts getting mentions in the media. This could derail her book career. There’s a lot of back and forth on whether or not they will date and well I wasn’t that invested either way. Neither character was very likable to me so I had a tough time pulling for them.
That’s this month’s reads. I hope you have your hands on some good books too.
Wishing you a wonderful week!
