Last year you all really showed up and participated in our group giving. I can’t wait for us to join up and do it again. This year we have three beautiful opportunities.

Mariah Washington was a well loved ray of sunshine. She fought a valiant battle against cancer this summer. Unfortunately, we lost Mariah. And what a loss it is. Mariah was the embodiment of joy, giggles, fun and love. I always came away from engaging with her feeling joyful. She was a light in the lives of many. She had the most magnificent voice and she used it to glorify God and edify each of us who were fortunate enough to sit within the sound of her voice. She was only 25 years old and I along with many are thankful for every one of those days that we got to have her in our lives. We will be donating to the Huntsville Hospital Oncology Unit. We will take the opportunity to be a light for the many families who are currently facing a similar battle just like Mariah was a light for us. Needed donations:
- Parking Tokens for the hospital
- Gift Cards (Panera, Publix, Taco Mama, Chick Fil A, Another Broken Egg, Tenders) to help families as they visit their loved ones
- Hand Lotion
- Socks
- Adult Coloring Books
Our second opportunity is to give to a family who has taken in 7 children. There are 5 girls and 2 boys. We want to give to both these children and the parents who are caring for them. I want to honor their privacy as much as possible as these are minors so I am not including a photo. Here are the donations we need for them:
- Gift Cards (Walmart, Target, Grocery) The parents will use these for surprise shopping sprees throughout the year.
- Accessories (Hats, Gloves, Jewelry, etc)
- Stocking Stuffers (Candy, Gum, Lip Balms, Shower Gels/Steamers)
- Family Games
Our third opportunity is Beyond Blessed Homeless Ministry. They were so appreciative of all of our donations last year. I have been checking the clearance sections all year and picked up lots of socks, shirts, and hats. So here are a few items we will be focusing on for them:
- Laundry Supplies (Detergent Pods, Fabric Softener Sheets). The ministry holds laundry days for the homeless to be able to come and do their laundry.
- Monetary Donations to cover the cost of using the washers and dryers.
- Gift Cards (Wal Mart, Hometown Grocery, Publix). The ministry will purchase items for the homeless throughout the year.
- Toiletry items (Wipes, Toothpaste, Lip Balm, Deodorant, Toothbrushes, etc)
I welcome you to give however is convenient for you. You can purchase items from the list above. If you would like to donate money, you can certainly do that. I am happy to take care of the shopping and you can designate if you want your donation to go to a particular effort.
I will photograph and report back here on everything we donate.
Thank you all for your big hearts and willingness to join in. Please feel free to contact me and we can arrange for drop offs, pick ups, mailing contributions or electronic giving. Trust me, we will make this work. The most important thing is that many will be blessed by our coming together.
Targeting to have all donations by Friday, December 9th.
Y’all ready? Let’s do this!!!!
