How was your weekend? Hopefully you are one of those who had a long one. We had Friday off and I wanted to make the most of it. Normally at 6:30 I am still horizontal trying to convince myself to just stand up, just get out of bed. But Friday was different. I was looking forward to getting so much done. I was up at 5:30. I started my Eufy Vacuum and got him started cleaning, put a load of clothes in and started the dishwasher. By noon I pretty much had my house tidy so I went out to roam the stores

I got myself a sticky note and added to it as I moved through the morning chores. I have to make list and through each room I was reminded I needed to check on this or pick up that. By the time I left the house I had quite the list of errands.
One of my errands was to go by the mall. I had checked a few websites and one of the stores there had something I was looking for. I very seldom go to the mall. When I hit stores I am going to a lot of the local ones or my TjMaxx/Homegoods/Marshalls stores. I didn’t find what I needed at the store I had in mind so I decided to walk out into the mall. I didn’t recognize it. So many of my favorite stores were gone. I was reminded why I don’t come that often any more.
I really miss
- Pottery Barn
- William Sonoma
- Loft
- J. Crew
These were always some of my favorites to browse through. While I am missing those stores…..I have to wonder how some of these other stores made it. Who knows!
I also started on the Christmas decorating this weekend. I did not actually get a tree up but I did get my sofa tables and buffet done. I also got a start on the mantle and the banisters. For some reason in the middle of pulling out all the bins of what we were going to use, we decided to clean out the whole attic. And just like that 5 hours disappeared. I will say there is something unsettling about finding things in your house that you don’t even remember buying. We ran into a few of those things. My husband gets aggravated because I don’t do attics. I stand at the door and he holds up bins, tells me what is in them and I say yes or no. Because some years I use certain things and some years I don’t. Well apparently he noticed that there are a lot of bins I always say no about and he wanted to clean them out. So we did. At the end, off he went to donate a lot of holiday stuff just in time for someone to use this year in their own homes.
So I plan to chip away at the rest of the decorating little by little each night after work. Last year we still had plastic sheeting and I barely got one tree up. This year we are back! I am very much looking forward to the full decorating and having our friends and family over.
I also did some work on our charities. I am waiting on one or two phone calls back and we should be set. Stay tuned.
But now……let’s go make it a great week!

I’m so excited for you to go all out decorating!!!
I was just talking about how I missed those same stores you listed. Rob joked that he was shocked “us girls” couldn’t keep them here. Ha! I’m surprised, too!
I googled and we have two Pottery Barns left in our whole state. I feel like we have failed as a state in quality store retention. I am hoping they give us another try 🙂
I went to home goods today for the first time. That store is so nice. I went for a Christmas pillow but they didn’t have what I was looking for. A YouTuber I watch shared it on her video, so I ran out to grab it but that store didn’t have it but I did get some things at target. That was a win!🙏🏿♥️
