Welcome to Friday and possibly a long weekend with July 4th being just around the corner. I am sure we are all ready for the weekend.
I am finishing up June with a little reflection. Back in 2017 I had a series of medical things. All temporary and fixable, but at the time it seemed like a lot. One of the things was I hurt my shoulder. I went to get it checked and had to ask the nurse to help me get in and out of my shirt. I couldn’t reach the button on the back, I couldn’t get it over my head. I was a literal mess. I ended up having a torn rotator cuff and the surgery to go with it.
I can still vividly remember the pain. It was intense both before and after the surgery. I had weeks of physical therapy afterwards and that was painful as well.
When you all of a sudden can’t reach or lift your arms, you start missing things. I missed dressing myself, fixing my hair, getting a glass out of the cabinet, putting on my seat belt…..but you know what I missed most

STRETCHING!!!!
I would stare at people with great envy when they stretched. I would daydream about it. Every morning I would wish for a good long stretch.
Now every time I stretch I think about those weeks. I never take a good stretch for granted now. I always think how thankful I am while I am stretching.
The little things in life are no longer little if or when we lose them. Let’s pay attention to the “little” things and appreciate them and be grateful for them while we still have them.
Now go have a good stretch and whisper a prayer of thanks!
Have a safe and wonderful weekend!
