I have a new obsession. It is the Go Clean Co. Instagram account. They are based in Canada. They clean houses and they post a ton of in progress photos and videos as well as some super before and afters.
I will warn you…..they curse a bit, but somehow when you see the biggest fur ball dug from under a piece of furniture or some gunk scrubbed from a tub…..well subconsciously a curse word may come to mind.
I am not going to give away any of their secret cleaning formulas…..go follow them and they have a book you can order. And yes, I ordered the book.
I am just going to show you some cleaning I did using their methods
I started in the greatroom

I forgot to take the picture at the very beginning so I have already moved the throw pillows and two ottomans in the above picture…..and brought out both the upright and the canister vacuums.
The first thing they tell you to do is empty the room of everything you can carry

I just drug everything out to the foyer. If you want to de-clutter a room, pick up everything you have in said room and it makes you think very hard about if you need to put it back in the end. After I moved everything I could on my own, I enlisted some help and moved all the bigger furniture pieces to the center of the room.

I vacuumed first, I crawled around and cleaned all the baseboards. But let me tell you what just about took me out…….the blinds. My goodness it probably took me an hour and half on the blinds alone. I wiped every piece of molding, cleaned the floors, vacuumed again, removed all the cushions, vacuumed again and then cleaned all the end tables and very selectively decided what items were coming back into the room. Because you know what, I cleaned every one of those items individually too.
This whole process took me about 4.5 hours. Yes, I cleaned this one room for 4.5 hours. But it felt good. Every single surface in this room got cleaned including what is hiding behind furniture.
It was practically sparkling when I finished

At this point I may have threatened anyone who dared to mess up this room. The problem was they weren’t afraid of me at all…..because I could barely walk. In addition to getting a clean room, I got a super work out.
I needed some recovery time, but I did tackle my master bath the next weekend. And I took a ton of pictures to show you……some of which may gross you out…..the before pictures that is……the after pictures will make you smile and not think poorly of me and my cleaning skills……hopefully.
Thanks, Go Clean Co. (@gocleanco) for inspiring me. I have had to set a timer on my phone to limit the amount of time I watch their videos. It is so addictive!
On another note, just want you all to know the tool we use to send the email notifications of new blog posts is being very weird. We are working on making it better. Always remember if you don’t get an email notification, you can type the blog name in your browser (www.onthecouchunderathrow.com) and still read it. I always post on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays with the occasional holiday being the exception. We appreciate your patience as we figure this tech stuff out.
Have a great clean weekend. I am off to choose my next room to tackle.
