Okay, every day since January 2025 when I retired, someone has asked me “So are you back working yet?” . To which I have adamantly replied, NO! In fact, I have encouraged others to retire. It’s wonderful out here. Come join me. And I still wholeheartedly feel that way…..
But
I couldn’t help it when one of my favorite places to hang out offered me a part time gig.

Look, I am there anyway. It’s my favorite bookstore. You all already know this. It is only a couple of days a week. And it is in a place I love and enjoy going to anyway. Maybe we can’t even call it work. I mean is me being in a bookstore all day twice a week really anything but pure joy. But I already know a few of you are going to be all over me and say that I have caved. I say…au contraire…..it is a bookstore. There is absolutely no way it counts as work. Except for the part of learning the computer system. Y’all, I was smart once upon a time, right? Or maybe I was just dreaming. Because goodness, learning a new point of sale system has not been easy for me.
I told them, just let me unpack boxes, stock shelves, alphabetize something. Those are things I already know how to do. But they are patiently walking me through learning the ropes and I am so thankful.
You know what else I am thankful for? That they love a good April Fools joke as much as I. And they let me come behind the counter and snap this photo all for this blog post. April Fools, my friends!!!!
Stay strong today and don’t let people fool you!
Thanks, Snail on the Wall, for being the best bookstore and a super partner in laughs!

You did not cave! This was destiny, and who are we to deny Destiny? PS: I have a book I need to pick up, hope to get by there on Friday. ð
You got me!!!!! ððĪŠ
I so thought this was real! LOL!
I thought what a perfect job for you! You got me too! But, you do work for them- you are a great ambassador for the bookstore. Stopped by yesterday and purchased some books.
