One of my favorite things to do is make what we need. I have always enjoyed looking at a need and trying to come up with a solution. Recently, a friend of mine sent me an online photo and asked if I knew where she could buy it locally….it was a cover for a book. She wanted a cover for her Bible. I said, let me see if I can make it. She gave me a fabric scrap that she had and I made her a Bible cover.
Well I have recently gotten into Mahjong. It is not an inexpensive hobby. I bought the tiles, my family gave me a few of the accessories and a mat. But I needed a bag to store and carry it. Mahjong is a mobile hobby. You have to be able to move around and meet up with friends and play. They, of course, sell bags but I thought ……I might can make that.
Sewing is often a math problem. Lucky for me I love math and had a great teacher (thanks, Mom!) So I sketched out what I thought I needed and made notes along the way

I knew I needed it to be able to hold my tile bag

So I made it the perfect size for that. Then I knew I had to have something with padding and individual sections to hold my pushers

So I “mathed” up this little doozie that will keep the pushers safe and protected

Then for funzies I deceided to make a little folder to hold my shufflers and books

which worked out perfectly

Here’s a peek inside with everything tucked in

The finished product all ready to go play

Someone invite me out to play, I am now Mahjong mobile and ready.
And now that I have my pattern down, I just may make some more!

That is Etsy-worthy. Love the functionality and pretti-ness!
You are too kind. It was fun to create though!
I love the bag you made. I have a love for bags, all types, sizes and shapes. Great job!
Thanks, Angie. I love tote bags too. I almost bought another today but talked myself down. Now if it is still there the next time I am in the store…..I might give in 🙂
Mahjong, I will have to look that up. Thanks for sharing!
