You know you are old when you start referring to the “good old days” and start a lot of sentences with “remember when”. By these standards, I am officially old…..very. There are so many things that used to be that I wish still were.

Weekends – remember when weekends were actually two days of relaxation and little responsibility? When we were kids and we literally could just enjoy two days off. Now weekends feel like prep time for the next week. There’s the running the errands, meal prep, all the household chores….all the things. Bring back the real weekend!
Affordable Drive-thru Eating – seriously, I remember wanting to work at certain stores in the mall for the discount alone. Now I feel like I need a restaurant job so I can get a discount medium french fry. Fast food is a small investment these days.
Sleep – mercy there is nothing like good sleep. Now I go to bed and somehow seem to injure myself while sleeping. What happens to a person’s neck while sleeping? Between that and leg cramps and just generally waking up several times over the course of the night….Oh the joy of childlike sleep!
Network Television – I will always fondly look back on Must See TV. Those Thursday nights that you could count on solid entertainment from 7-10 pm. Bring back some decent TV shows and pack them into one night so we can have one night when we are not flipping through 100 channels to find something decent. I feel like the more channel options we get, the worst the show offerings get.
Conversations – I can remember just talking and talking and talking to my friends about everything and about nothing. The rare occasion we get together and just have the chance to sit and talk are still my favorite. Because TV can get so bad we sometimes find ourselves with it off or muted and we are just sitting around talking. Those are the best nights…..bedtimes seem to blur late into the evening and we just enjoy talking to each other. Plan yourself some time to just sit and talk to someone you have been missing. It will bless you!
What do you look fondly back on and wish for it to be again?
