Okay, I am going to admit that I did not want to take a lamp shade class. In fact, I complained about it silently for weeks. The reason I did not want to do it was because a lady a follow on Instagram made a lamp shade…..for weeks…..literally weeks. She posted and posted all these intricate steps and folds. I wanted to go buy a lamp shade and mail it to her. It was brutal. So when my daughter signed us up for a two hour class, I was not thrilled. I thought we’d go spend two hours starting a project to bring it home unfinished and you guessed it…..never finish it.
Well I was WRONG! I don’t know what that Instagram lady was doing but she should take this class. Because we came home with a finished lamp shade that was actually quite simple to make.
Our class was taught by Lampologie hosted at Willow Tree Fabrics. She teaches all over so definitely look her up and see if there is a class near you. Our particular class was a monogrammed lamp shade. We went over a few weeks before the class and chose our fabric. That way they had time to monogram it before class night
When we arrived she had our stations so nicely set up

Such a cute charcuterie tea cup for our snack

And she had beverages for us too.
We did measure and cut and snip

But it was well organized and instructed which meant we could actually complete the project in full.
Look at how great our shades turned out

I mean that is my kind of class and my kind of project. I was able to come right home and put it to use.

Dear Instagram Lady, please take this class, please learn to make a simple, quick lamp shade. So glad I took the class and tried it. I do love learning something new. Now I am off to make more! Because, of course, I picked up more fabric while I was there!
I’ll be here Wednesday and then take off the rest of the week for a little downtime. Meet me here on Wednesday and then I will see you the following Monday.
Make it a great week!

I love the tissue idea. I have never thought about that.
Thanks, Angie!
