Listen, we all know we have to be intentional and even at this joyful time of year…… we have to carve out time for Joy. We can get so consumed with all the have to do’s, need to do’s, want to do’s that we miss the Joy. I always laugh this time of year at all the folks who you can tell only go shopping for Christmas. You can see the stress all over them. I try to give them an encouraging smile to let them know it is going to be okay. Yesterday I stopped by TJ Maxx and there was one available shopping cart in the store. As I was putting my hands on it and pushing away, I saw this lady who was also approaching deflate. I asked her if she needed it and she said, no I should go ahead she would wait for another. No, no ma’am, I can tell you are stressed and I am just out here wandering around for fun. I insisted she take it and she was thrilled.
There are pockets of Joy tucked everywhere….don’t miss them. But, one of the things we like to do is a special church service. So many churches do candlelight services, special song services, etc. Start looking for one and then carve out the hour or so to attend. And if you can, invite someone to go with you. You can’t always make all the parties and gatherings, but maybe you can spare an hour or two to sit in service with someone special you’ve wanted to connect with this season.
Whatever you do – Don’t miss the Joy of worshiping our Lord and sitting in the perfect peace of His presence.
Wishing you a Joyful time with family and friends this entire season. Give it a good start by having a wonderful week.
