You all know how much I love a true story. Well I watched four good ones this month!
First up, Judy on Netflix. Listen, Renee Zellweger is phenomenal in this. I have to say I didn’t really know the whole Judy Garland story. It is intense. I really enjoyed this movie.
Next The Dig also on Netflix tells the story of a lady who hires someone to excavate some burial mounds on her property. It is based on actual events and is heart warming and tugging. I literally stumbled upon this one and could not have been happier. It is a great movie. Watch it!!!!
Then I watched The Apple Mortgage Cake on Amazon where a mom who is faced with a foreclosure on her home starts selling her apple cakes to raise the money. Well…..nothing is ever that easy, right. It is a sweet story of determination, friendship and family. A feel good story and who doesn’t need that?
Lastly, Penguin Bloom on Netflix. My goodness this movie was so good. Essentially, a very active family goes on vacation and a freak accident leaves the mom paralyzed. She has three young boys and her whole life changes in an instant. I was drawn in from the beginning and riveted to the screen the whole time. I never heard much buzz around this movie, but it is an awesome story. I always love at the end where they show the real family who the movie is based on. Do not miss this one.
I am finally getting the hang of these ratings……apparently I am not Mature and should not watch anything rated for mature audiences and TV14 seems a bit out of reach for me too. Good grief…..I am currently in search of shows rated CE (Clothed Entertainment). If you know of anything that fits in this category, let me know.
